Let’s talk Buccal Massage

Ok so you may have heard people talking about it, and honestly probably scratched your head in confusion- a mouth massage? INSIDE the mouth?

That’s right! Buccal massage (pronounced “buckle”) is also called “intra-oral” massage. The word “buccal” comes from the Latin “bucca” meaning “cheek”.

Do a quick internet search and you’ll see several articles claiming this is Meghan Markle’s favorite treatment- and for good reason!

Buccal massage is more than just relaxing (I have heard my clients describe it as a big stretch for the face) It is also great for detoxifying, bringing blood flow and circulation to the skin, de-puffing (thanks to clearing that unwanted lymph fluid) and what happens when we massage and lengthen the facial muscles is, it gives them movement- and releases them- which is why many people report a more sculpted appearance after a session- When the jaw muscles get super tight or locked up, it creates tension in the face that pulls everything downward. Releasing and loosening these tight muscles gives your facial tissues and jowl lines a lift!

In a fast paced, chaotic world, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who isn’t (even subconsciously) clenching their jaw- Buccal massage can give you relief in that capacity, too!

So to wrap it up- Buccal Massage rules, it may be strange at first but you might find yourself amongst my clients who book this service on a monthly basis!
